Battleship’s new action-packed trailer looks

A NEW action-packed trailer has arrived for Battleship – and it will definitely be appreciated by those waiting impatiently for Transformers 4.
Hasbro, the toymaker whose Battleship naval board game is the basis for the upcoming movie, has already seen its Transformers action figures become money-making machines at the box office.
And it evidently thinks: Why change a winning formula?
The alien-invasion action film, directed by Peter Berg and released in UK cinemas on April 11, stars Liam Neeson, Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and Alexander Skarsgard.
The new trailer unleashes a barrage of human and alien firepower with explosions and devastation – on land as well at sea – as mankind faces what’s called a ‘global extinction event.’ It’s difficult not to see the Transformers vibe, especially when the footage shows city buildings being destroyed.

Taylor Kitsch, who plays Lt Alex Hopper, is well aware of such comparisons, telling Screenrant: “I understand the concept of it being that. But I think we are truly our own ordeal. I think you will get (director) Pete Berg’s, as well as my own, flavour in there. We’re very collaborative, and we co-wrote a lot of those scenes. And it has that feel of a Pete Berg movie, which is so fun.
“But he definitely doesn’t forget about character. And that guy can tell stories just as good as anyone else. And his humour, our humour, it’s quite twisted, which is great.”
It’s clearly aiming to be popcorn entertainment for the summer blockbuster season and Kitsch urges people to think of it in those terms: “It’s gonna be a fun ride. I think people just want to be so critical. Just enjoy the f***ing thing. Go and have an open mind with it. With anything you go to. It’s a summer fun movie that I guarantee will be entertaining start to finish. That’s all I can say about it. Enjoy it.”
Synopsis:
Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force.
Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.
Also producing are Scott Stuber (Couples Retreat), Sarah Aubrey (The Kingdom), Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro, along with Duncan Henderson (Master and Commander) and Jeffrey Silver (300). The film is written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber (Red).
The battle for Earth begins at sea.

Whitney Houston’s gifts to daughter

Whitney Houston’s gifts to daughter - Whitney Houston made sure her one true love would be taken care of before her untimely February 11 passing.
The singer, 48, amended her will on April 14, 2000, leaving daughter Bobbi Kristina, now 19, everything in her possession. Bobbi Kristina will inherit her mother’s money, furniture, clothing, personal effects, jewelry and cars, according to a 19-page court document obtained byInside Edition.
The money will be placed in a trust until Bobbi Kristina turns 21 in 2014. She will receive additional money when she turns 25, and will be given access to the rest of Houston’s fortune when she turns 30.
Houston’s mother Cissy, 78, is the executor of the will; her brother Michael and sister-in-lawDonna are the trustees. The “I Look to You” singer’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, is mentioned in the will but receives nothing.
Houston first drafted a will on February 3, 1993 — exactly one month before she gave birth to Bobbi Kristina.
Bobbi Kristina will open up for the first time about her mother’s death on an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, airing on OWN March 9 at 9 p.m. EST.
“[Bobbi Kristina] idolized Whitney,” a source previously told Us Weekly. “She was always by her side in everything she did.”

Enjoy Dawn in Gang Raft Village

If you have been lucky enough to visit Long Son Island Commune in Vung Tau City, you might not have noticed the beautiful sunrise on the newly-built Go Gang Bridge.
With our aim to witness the activities of a raft village in early morning, my friends and I took a car to drive from Vung Tau City to Go Gang Island in Long Son Commune at 4:30 a.m. Just 40 minutes later we arrived at Go Gang Bridge to admire the whole view of the raft village below and an endless horizon where the sky and the sea mingled into one.
There were not many people traveling on the bridge at that time so we freely jumped and lay on the bridge’s surface for photos and breathed in the fresh air from the sea which was mingled with fish and sea salt.
Enjoy Dawn in Gang Raft Village-  Just a moment passed and we all made a ‘wow’ as the sun rose from the horizon and dyed the sky dark orange.

Our group consisted of five and ten eyes were engrossed with that miracle scene and we pushed our cameras’ buttons in unison. The sun and its changeable colors reflected on the water surface like a giant silk painting and some tiny floating houses bubbled on the water and fishing boats surfing on the water made for some lively patterns.
When the sun was rising above, we decided to come to the small path beneath the bridge to watch fishermen transferring fish from small boats to trucks to take them to the markets. After that, we went to a raft house not for seafood but to watch daily activities of people who live all-year round on the water surface.
After admiring sunrise scene, tourists are advised to pop along to Nha Lon (Great House), a place to worship the great men of Taoism, Confucianism, Ong Tran and his relatives of the Le Family on Long Son Island. The house was built on an area of two hectares and includes a temple, a place to celebrate festivals with a school, a market, and Ong Tran’s graveyard. Or you can climb up to a mountain on the locality to have a panoramic view of the whole of Vung Tau City. Tourists who find it difficult with directions can ask enthusiastic local people so they can obtain useful information about the history and culture of the location.
You may say that the sunrise scene and raft village is the same everywhere but I think it would be different if you do it on Go Gang Island in the early morning, not at the bustling atmosphere of an afternoon party eating seafood as we usually do every weekend.

Vietnamese handicrafts and furniture products are being exported to 100 nations and territories in the world, including traditional markets such as China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the US and EU countries.
Vietnamese handicrafts are made from materials like rattan, bamboo, leaves, porcelain, lacquer, and cloisonné, with some exploiting fabric embroidery.
Total turnover of art and craft exports in the first eight months of the year reached US$1.1 billion and expected to touch $1.6 billion by year end.
However, the weakness of the Vietnamese handicraft sector is that businesses are pursuing backward technologies and there is no brand development strategy for any products.
Participants at the seminar said that the government must develop handicraft villages in such a way as to connect them with tourism programs, help in creating brands and adopt more environmental protection policies.

IMEX America comes to a close following record visitor numbers

The second edition of IMEX America came to a close earlier with the announcement that all of the show’s key performance measures were up on last year’s debut show.
Speaking at the show’s closing press conference, chairman Ray Bloom firstly thanked the show’s key partners who were also represented at the event – Cathy Tull, vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority; Cindy D’Aoust chief operating officer of Meeting Professionals International and Robert Rippee, senior vice president of marketing at The Venetian, The Palazzo.
Bloom then went on to express his deep satisfaction that the show had hosted 2,400 buyers from across North America and 43 other global markets – 20 per cent more than last year.

In addition, the trade show had also welcomed around 1,700 attendees.
He also explained that the new benefits and facilities package introduced for these attendees had been well-received.
This year 2,413 individual exhibiting companies showcased their destinations, venues, products and services at the three-day trade show, filling halls C and D to capacity.
As a result Bloom announced that the show will move, as planned, to bigger halls at the Sands Expo from 2013 to allow it to grow.
He also announced that the hosted buyer program would also be significantly increased for the 2013 show.
He explained that, in the weeks prior to opening, hosted buyers and buyer attendees together had made over 38,000 appointments to meet with exhibitors on their booths – a 60 per cent increase on the debut show.
A notable feature of the show is the amount of time that buyers spend on the show floor and the seriousness with which they take their appointments – many booking business during the trade show.
